How to use the Meltdown Machine

Cleaning the Meltdown Machine

Meet the Meltdowns

Grip it and rip it!

Welcome to your go-to guide for all things smooth. Whether you're a newbie or seasoned pro we've got tips to tackle any sticky situation!

Does Crybaby Wax hurt?

Our waxes are formulated to be less painful than other hard waxes. For most areas of the body, it feels like pulling off a band aid.

Do I need strips to remove this wax?

Nope! The wax acts as the strip when it dries. Apply directly to skin and when the wax is no longer sticky to the touch, pull the strip in one quick motion parallel to the skin to remove hair.

How long does the hair need to be before waxing?

The best length for hair is ¼ inch (about the length of a grain of rice.) If your hair is shorter than that, all the hair may not be removed and could require multiple passes with the wax.

Can hair be too long to wax?

If hair is longer than ½ inch, waxing can be more painful, and the hairs may break off and lead to ingrown hairs and irritation. We recommend trimming longer hairs to ¼ inch before waxing.

How do I melt the wax?

Our wax works with any wax warmer. Our Meltdown Machine is perfect for precise wax melting. We do not recommend using a microwave to melt wax as it may affect performance.

Will Crybaby Wax remove thick facial hair?

Yes! For people struggling with hirsutism or PCOS facial hair growth, we recommend the I’m Sensitive Meltdown Vegan Hard Wax for facial waxing.

How do I prep for waxing?

Exfoliate skin with a scrub 48 hours before waxing. Before waxing, skin should be clean and dry.

How should I store the Wax?

Keep your wax at room temperature. If wax does get warm and sticks together, it will not affect the performance. Break the pieces apart and heat in The Meltdown Machine Wax Warmer to use.

The No-Fear Guide to Smooth Skin

Learn how to wax like a pro and ditch razors for good!

Begin by cleaning the area you want to wax.

Remove any dirt, makeup, oil, lotions, and residue.

Our Ride or Cry AHA Exfoliating Splash is perfect for prepping your skin.

Follow up with our A Wail of a Time Talc-Free Priming Powder to soak up excess oils and moisture if you have oily skin.

First, crank up The Meltdown Machine to its highest heat setting (257°F) and melt the wax.

Stir occasionally and once it's all melted, turn the heat down to around 120°F - 130°F and give it a little stir to help it cool.

Gather some wax on a stick and let it drip. If it is runny like water, let it cool more. If it drips like honey, it is ready to use.

Test a small strip on the inside of your wrist to make sure it’s not too hot.

Glide the wax onto your skin, following the natural direction your hair grows.  Think of it like petting a cat – go with the grain.

Leave a little extra wax at the end of the strip to form a "tab" – this is what you grab for the big pull.

Make sure the wax strip is not wider than 1 inch to 1.5 inches.

When the wax is no longer sticky (give it about 30 seconds), grasp the bottom of the wax strip where you created a tab

Pull the strip off parallel to your skin - not straight up. This will reduce hair breakage and ingrown hairs.

Repeat as needed in different areas.

Once all unwanted hair has been removed, apply post-wax skin care essentials.

Our Just Cool It Calming Mango Gel is designed to soothe and soften skin post-wax.
