FAQ

If you are prone to ingrown hairs, we recommend cleansing the area with Ride or Cry AHA Exfoliating Splash before and after waxing.

The post-wax application of Ride or Cry will help remove any remaining dead skin cells and aid in preventing irritation before post-wax care products are applied.

In a perfect world, your skin would be exfoliated 48 hours before waxing.

This helps soften the hair for easier removal, reduces redness, and allows the wax to grip your skin better. This step can be completed with a scrubbing mitt, physical scrub, or brush.

But, we don't always have time to fully prep, which is where Ride or Cry AHA Exfoliating Splash enters the scene.

  • An ultra-gentle, chemical exfoliant designed to be used on the face and body before waxing, Ride or Cry helps remove any remaining dead skin cells and makes your waxing experience less painful, even if you didn't exfoliate 48 hours before.

Your skin naturally sheds old skin cells and new ones rise to the surface. During this process, some skin cells may get trapped in a mix of sweat, dirt, and oils.

Exfoliating the dead skin and trapped debris at least once a week can help prevent clogged pores and dry, scaly skin patches.

When you don’t exfoliate this layer of dead skin and debris, it makes it harder for the wax to remove hair cleanly.

This increases the chance of your hair breaking below the skin, the formation of ingrown hairs, and breakouts forming post-waxing.

That’s a BIG N-O! Doing so will turn you into an ACTUAL crybaby.

Light chemical exfoliants (like our Ride or Cry AHA Splash) are formulated to gently remove dead skin cells before waxing.

Retinoids or chemical peels, on the other hand, are meant to remove dead skin at a deeper level and encourage skin cell turnover.

Waxing on top of skin that’s been treated with retinoids or a chemical peel will only cause pain.

  • We recommend refraining from using chemical exfoliants at least two days before waxing.
  • Wait at least a week after a chemical peel to wax your skin.
